The Women In India

Today Girls Online Magazine would like to take a moment to salute all those women in India who were apart of the fight for equality for women.

In case you missed it, millions of women in India came together to form a “woman’s wall” or a human chain over 385 miles long in protest of gender inequality. The protest was held in the state of Kerala and was described as “electric”.

We absolutely love seeing women all over the world uniting for a brighter future. Unfortunately, women in India are suffering from many social issues simply because they are women. There are a lot of restrictions for women in India, and those are only some of the issues they are fighting against. Some of the other issues women face are problems of sex discrimination, a high percentage of illiteracy, female infanticide, dowry system, sexual harassment, etc. Recently women in India have been fighting for their equality and demanding to be treated fairly.

The day after the protest two women named Bindu Ammini and Kanaka Durga made history by entering a Hindu shrine that had banned women between the ages of 10 and 50 for the last hundred years.
